About Soul of a Nation: Corazon de America
Soul of a Nation: Corazon de America highlights the achievements of 60 million people with Latino and Hispanic heritage in the U.S. The special focuses on stories of the Hispanic community through civil rights, colorism, language, food, sports, and music.
ABC News’ Sunny Hostin, Alex Perez, John Quiñones, Stephanie Ramos, Cecilia Vega, and Gio Benitez are co-hosting the hour. It also features an interview and performance by Ozuna. Other highlights include an original monologue from actor John Leguizamo, a discussion between Chief White House correspondent Cecilia Vega and 91-year-old civil rights legend Dolores Huerta, and an interview with Transportation Correspondent Gio Benitez and Ozuna.
Also in the special, ABC News’ Nightline, correspondent Stephanie Ramos explores Latinos’ impact on sports with interviews with boxer Canelo Álvarez, MLB legend David “Big Papi” Ortiz, and the U.S. Olympic gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. Hostin has an important conversation with Latino thought leaders on how colonialism created racism, colorism, and whiteness, which continues to impact communities of color today.
ABC News anchor and Texas native John Quiñones introduces the residents of El Paso and discusses the resilience of the city two years after the mass shooting. National Correspondent Alex Perez highlights Latinos who are reclaiming their identities through language.
