Merely days away from the Apple Event taking place Sept. 10 at the Steve Jobs Theater, reports are coming out that the tech giant will be unveiling a new Apple TV in addition to new iPhone and AppleWatch models.
According to the Twitter account @never_released the new model has an Apple TV11,1 identifier and a codename of J305, MacRumors reports. The site has confirmed that both the model identifier and codename can be found on “strings and plist files in an internal build of iOS 13 that was provided to us, but this does not guarantee an imminent release.”
The new TV is reported to have a new A12 chip, making it more efficient for the upcoming Apple Arcade—a video game subscription service which gives access to a wide-selection of games for just $9.99 a month. The A12 Bionic chip, which was made available on iPhones and iPads over the last year, allows for a faster more powerful Apple TV at little or no additional component cost.
In June, Apple announced new features for their Apple TV devices coming in tvOS13 — the latest version of their operating system. The update will come this Fall and will make the device feel more personalized and modern. It includes a re-designed home screen, user profiles, an updated control center, Apple Music app with lyrics, Apple Arcade with support for PS4 & Xbox Controllers and new underwater screensavers.
