Roku and Peloton Ink Deal to Bring App to Roku Devices in the US

Peloton just expanded its reach by signing a new distribution deal with Roku, bringing their app to Roku’s millions of users. According to Variety, the Peloton app will be available on Roku devices in the U.S. as of today.

“We are excited to roll out our best-in-class streaming fitness service onto the Roku platform,” said Karina Kogan, senior VP and GM of Peloton digital. “We’ve seen growing engagement with our TV apps, especially as more and more consumers look for at-home fitness solutions to keep them physically and mentally fit.”

According to Variety, the distribution deal is another opportunity for Peloton to try and increase signups for its Peloton Digital Membership package, which costs $12.99/month. On the Roku platform, the company also has a chance to retain customers who have purchased Peloton hardware and get them to subscribe to the Peloton all-access membership ($39/month), since they are able to use the same credentials to log in on a Roku device.

Peloton has steadily been bringing the app to big streaming platforms. On June 2, the company surprised Apple TV customers when it became available on the platform. According to 9to5Mac, “subscribers were notified on Tuesday that a new Peloton app for the Apple TV is on the way.” The move was right on par as Peloton had released Chromecast support for smart TVs after launching a Fire TV and Apple Watch app in December.

The company rolled out their exclusive streaming service for Amazon Fire TV devices on Dec. 4.

The Peloton App covers six workout disciplines: Strength, yoga, meditation, stretching, bootcamp and cardio. The app also offers users an immersive workout experience that includes features like workout timeline, closed captioning and estimated calorie count.
