Just last month, Sling TV announced they accrued 214,000 net subscribers in the third quarter, getting them to 2.686 million subscribers, up from 2.47 million at the end of the second quarter. However, it seems the live TV streaming service has hit a bit of a snag as they “no longer have the rights to show on-demand content from NBC or Fox outside of the markets in which they are available live on Sling,” a spokesperson for Sling told The Streamable.
Customers who reside in the New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Hartford/New Haven, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose and San Diego markets will still receive live and on-demand content from NBC.
While customers in the New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Atlanta, Houston, Orlando/Daytona/Melbourne, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Gainesville, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Austin, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Oakland and San Jose markets will still receive live and on-demand content from Fox.
Customers outside of these markets can use a digital over-the-air (OTA) antenna to receive their local NBC and Fox channels as local TV stations are required to broadcast their channels for free over the public airwaves, and Sling customers may be able to watch them for free with a digital antenna.
