What is the Price and Release Date of Disney+?

Disney unveiled that their ad-free streaming service will debut in the U.S. on November 12, 2019 at $6.99 per month, or $70 per year ($5.83/month). Disney+, which many have dubbed a “Netflix-killer”, will expand international to Europe, Asia, and Latin America starting early next year and continuing through the end of 2020.

What Shows and Movies will be on Disney+?

The first year will include 25 new original series, 10+ movies, 7,500 past episodes, 100 recent movies, and 400 library titles. Disney+ will be the exclusive home of all of Walt Disney’s blockbuster films starting with the 2019 slate, which will roll-out to the platform within the first year.

What Exclusive Originals will be on Disney+?

In addition to films from Marvel, Pixar, and Disney Animation Studios, Disney+ will also be the exclusive home to The Simpsons and Malcom in the Middle starting in November.

Disney+ Originals

The company announced 6 original shows and movies that will be available at launch, including the $100 million 10-episode Star Wars spin-off, “The Mandalorian” which was directed by Jon Favreau.

Live Action Series

High School Musical: The Musical

The 10-episode scripted series, set at the real-life East High, where the original movie was filmed, follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of “High School Musical.”

The Mandalorian

The first ever live-action Star Wars series set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order, the series follows a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Forky Asks a Question

A series of 10 shorts, where Forky, from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4, has important questions about how the world works, such as: What is love? What is time? And of course, the deepest question of all, What is cheese?

Lady & The Tramp

A timeless re-telling of the 1955 animated classic about a prim and proper house dog and a tough but lovable stray who embark on a series of adventures and, despite their different upbringings, grow closer and come to understand the true meaning of “home.” Starring Tessa Thompson (voice of Lady) and Justin Theroux (voice of Tramp), Kiersey Clemons (Darling), Thomas Mann (Jim Dear), Janelle Monae (voice of Peg), Yvette Nicole Brown (Aunt Sarah) and Sam Elliot (voice of Trusty).

Fox

In a surprise announcement, Disney+ will become the exclusive home of The Simpsons, with the entire library of 30 seasons available at launch. The series was previously on the now Disney-owned Hulu, but moved to FXX last year—which Disney acquired in their purchase of 21st Century Fox.
