Faye Dunaway is back in the spotlight and taking on another major Hollywood icon: herself. In frank candor, the singular Dunaway sits down for the first feature-length documentary about her life and career, speaking honestly about all the highs and lows, from Oscar wins to reputation blows and struggles with alcoholism, throughout her six-decade career. Along with insight from friends and colleagues, the three-time Oscar nominee “contextualizes her life and filmography, laying bare her struggles with mental health while confronting the double standards she was subjected to as a woman in Hollywood.”

About “Faye”
Directed by Laurent Bouzereau (HBO’s “Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind”), the HBO Original documentary takes, for the first time, a feature-length look, at the life and multi-decade career of film star Faye Dunaway in her own words. The actor will recount the triumphs and challenges of her career, working with mentors like director Elia Kazan and playwright William Alfred, whose play “Hogan’s Goat” helped launch her career in 1965.
Exploring the personal trajectory of her life alongside her career, the three-time Oscar nominee (and one-time winner for “Network”) will speak candidly about her starriest projects, including “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Chinatown,” “Mommie Dearest,” and more, as well as her reputation for being “difficult,” her struggles with alcoholism, and her bipolar disorder diagnosis, and how her own demons threatened to derail her success.
The documentary, which had its world premiere at this past year’s Cannes Film Festival in May, also features interviews with Faye Dunaway’s son Liam Dunaway O’Neill, as well as colleagues and friends such as Sharon Stone, Mickey Rourke, James Gray, author Mark Harris, journalist Robin Morgan, film professor Annette Insdorf, photographer and director Jerry Schatzberg, author David Itzkoff.
