Amazon Fire TV Integrates YouTube Kids App as OTA TV Becomes Available on Fire TV Cube
Amazon announced today that they issued two upgrades to the Fire TV as well as Fire TV Cube. The company revealed that the YouTube Kids app is now available on Amazon Fire TVs all over the world. The app is designed to meet kids’ needs, as it features larger buttons for easier interaction and child-friendly graphics to keep them engaged.
The Fire TV Cube also got an upgrade as it now allows users in the U.S. and select countries to watch over-the-air TV and even allows for Alexa voice capabilities to tune to different channels.
To use the feature on Fire TV Cube, customers can set-up their OTA tuner in the Fire TV Settings menu under Equipment Control. In the Equipment Control menu, select “Manage Equipment,” followed by “Add Equipment” and “Live TV” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
The streamers join nearly 20 other integrated apps, including Philo, Pluto TV and Amazon Prime Video Channel. Sling TV began rolling out earlier this year, while YouTube TV started its integration on Wednesday and Hulu + Live TV will join in the coming weeks.
The goal is to make it easier for users to find content.
Live content from the three providers will be directly integrated into Fire TV’s live TV discovery features: Live Tab, On Now Rows and multi-app Channel Guide, which includes Alexa.
