Amazon Prime Video announced that it has added a new social viewing experience for desktop users, where they can stream Prime Video titles with their friends. The feature called “Watch Party” is available in the U.S. only and supports up to 100 participants in a chat session with synchronized playback of their favorite Prime Video shows.
In order to participate, each streamer must have a Prime or Prime Video subscription and be based on the U.S. You can stream thousands of titles in Prime Video’s catalog including Amazon Originals like “Fleabag”, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, “The Boys”, “Homecoming”, and more.
With the on-going pandemic, streaming services have doubled down on making it easy to watch with friends and family near and far. Last month, Hulu launched a “Watch Party” feature for their ad-free subscribers. Popular third-party apps like NetflixParty and Scener that have filled the void on services like Netflix and HBO.
