An untitled four-part docuseries from Brian Lazarte and James Lee Hernandez (“McMillion$”) has been given a series order by Apple TV+.
The documentary addresses the true story of one of the biggest government scams in history. According to sources, the duo cut a seven-figure deal, per Deadline.
Financial chicanery isn’t new to Lazarte and Hernandez. “McMillion$” focused on the $24 million stolen from the McDonald’s Monopoly game and the FBI agents in pursuit of the criminal behind it.
Lazarte also produced “Sonic Highways” and “Time of Death” for HBO and Showtime, respectively.
Hernandez directed the Emmy-winning “Wonder Women” doc, as well as “The Other Side of Home.”
The Apple Original doc will join a roster that includes “Beastie Boys Story,” “Home” and “Visible: Out on Television” — which revealed how TV has shaped the LGBTQ movement.
Also, in keeping with the shelter-at-home dictates, the streamer’s workplace comedy series “Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet” is debuting a special episode on May 22, titled “Mythic Quest: Quarantine.” The actors also worked from remote locations. In the upcoming half-hour show, the team that creates the mega-multiplayer video game works at home. Each staffer has a personal reaction to the pandemic.
Apple TV+ is available for $4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial.
