In late 2015, Amazon stopped selling Chromecast devices since there wasn’t a direct way to watch Prime Video content. In retaliation, Google removed YouTube from Fire TV and Echo devices.
Just under a year ago, Amazon announced that Chromecast would return to their online store — but there hadn’t been any progress since. That changes today as both Chromecast [3rd Gen] and Chromecast Ultra are once again available for sale.
There’s still just one issue. Chromecast devices still can’t stream Amazon Prime Video and Fire TV devices can’t stream YouTube. So while this is progress in reducing the tension between the two companies - there is still work left to do to bring peace between the internet giants.
