Colin Kaepernick and Disney Sign First-Look Deal

Ex-NFL star Colin Kaepernick has signed a first-look deal with The Walt Disney Company.

The Disney alliance with his production company, Ra Vision Media, will center on stories that discuss race and social injustice.

The first project in development is an ESPN Films docuseries about Kaepernick’s last five years. In September 2016, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback took a knee and faced nationwide controversy. In March 2017, he was released from his NFL contract.

Now, Kaepernick gets to tell his side of the story.

Kaepernick stated: “I am excited to announce this historic partnership with Disney across all of its platforms to elevate Black and Brown directors, creators, storytellers, and producers, and to inspire the youth with compelling and authentic perspectives.”

Disney executive chairman Bob Iger added: “Colin’s experience gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of sports, culture and race, which will undoubtedly create compelling stories that will educate, enlighten and entertain.”

The deal includes all Walt Disney platforms, such as Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Hulu, Pixar and The Undefeated. Kaepernick will work closely with the latter.
