Content on NBC Sports Gold’s ‘Premier League Pass’ Will Move to Peacock Premium Starting in 2020-21 Season

Peacock Premium will stream 175 exclusive Premier League matches in the 2020-21 season, NBCUniversal announced Thursday. All content previously presented on NBC Sports Gold’s “Premier League Pass” will shift exclusively to Peacock Premium.

Peacock – the company’s new streaming service – will launch nationally with free and premium tiers across mobile, web and connected TV devices on July 15. In January, the company announced that some Premier League games would stream on Peacock Premium, but how that coverage would fit in with NBC Sports Gold’s was not yet clear.

In all, Peacock Premium users will have access to more than 1,500 hours of Premier League live match and shoulder programming coverage – the most robust offering ever available in the U.S., according to the company. Included in the deal are full-event replays for all 380 matches on-demand (after 9 p.m. ET).

“This exclusive Premier League programming is an exciting addition to our live sports content on Peacock Premium, and we are thrilled to continue delivering our best-in-class Premier League coverage to NBCUniversal linear television customers as well as new Peacock subscribers,” Rick Cordella, EVP and Chief Revenue Officer at Peacock, said.

NBC Sports Gold previously offered two season plans: Match Day Pass ($39.99) and Premier League Pass ($64.99). Match Day Pass came with live streaming of matches not available on television, while Premier League Pass ($64.99) added the ability to stream all games on-demand.

Peacock Premium is $4.99 per month (free for Xfinity X1 and Flex customers), or $29.99 for a full year commitment.

NBC and NBCSN will continue to air Premier League live match coverage, as well as pre- and postmatch shows and additional shoulder programming. Premier League games still on NBC and NBCSN will be streamed on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.

Usually, most of the big clubs – like Chelsea and Manchester United – would have had about four games a season on Premier League Pass, while most other teams will have nearly half their games on the service. An NBCUniversal representative said that the Peacock Premium schedule will be finalized closer to the start of the season.

Wednesday, Peacock announced that it would grant users free access to NBC Sports’ full Premier League match and studio coverage on launch day. The streamer will serve as the exclusive home for four matches as well as all studio programming, including prematch, halftime and postgame coverage. NBC Sports’ six hours of coverage that day will be presented with no commercials.

Live sports on Peacock debuted with the Bournemouth-Crystal Palace Premier League match on June 20. Upcoming live events on the service will include a new primetime Sunday NFL Wild Card playoff game, Olympics and Paralympics coverage, U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open and Ryder Cup golf, plus the recently announced Peacock Originals “Lost Speedways,” hosted by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and documentary “In Deep with Ryan Lochte.”
