Disney Expects to Partner With Apple, Amazon and Google to Distribute Disney+

According to Disney CEO Bob Iger, the company is looking into partnering with fellow conglomerates, Apple, Amazon and Google to distribute its upcoming streaming service, Disney+.

On a conference call with analysts, Iger said, “At investor day we announced that we have a few distribution partners. There are others out there, notably Apple, Amazon and Google for instance that we’ve been in discussions with about distribution. You can expect that we will conclude deals with them as distribution partners. We think it’s important for us to achieve scale relatively quickly and they’ll be an important part of that. We’ve had conversations with all of them, and they’re all interested in distributing the product.”

In addition, Iger also announced that when Disney+ launches on November 12th customers will be able to get a bundle of their direct-to-consumer services. The bundle, which will cost $12.99 a month, will include Disney+ ($6.99), Hulu ($5.99) (ad-supported plan), and ESPN+ ($4.99) — is $5 less than if subscribed to separately. With the new bundle, you can get the three services for less than Netflix.

The company announced an original slate including a 10-episode Star Wars series from Jon Favreau which will be available at launch in November. The first year will include 25 new original series, 10+ movies, 7,500 past episodes, 100 recent movies, and 400 library titles including the entire Disney Vault. Previously, many of those new releases and library films would have gone to Netflix as part of a distribution deal that started in 2016.
