Amazon announced a new Fire TV device today called Fire TV Recast that allows you to watch live and recorded shows wirelessly from an Over-The Air (OTA) antenna.
There are two versions of the Fire TV Recast — one allows you to record 2 tuners and store 75 hours of recording for $229.99, while the other includes 4 tuners and 150 hours of recording space for $279.99.
It won’t be available until November 14th, but you can pre-order it starting today.

What Live Channels Can You Watch with Fire TV Recast?
The device wirelessly streams live OTA channels like CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC, CW, and PBS from the Fire TV Recast to your Fire TV, Echo Show, Echo Spot, iOS, and Android devices.
The device itself does not come with an OTA Antenna or Streaming Media Player, so you will have to buy those separately.
How To Set-up Fire TV Recast
The Fire TV Recast can be placed anywhere in your home where you get Wi-Fi, so you can intelligently place it in the position to get your best signal. As part of the set-up process in the Fire TV mobile app, it will show which direction to place your antenna to get the most channels for your location.
What inputs are on the Fire TV Recast?
The device has a TV antenna input, USB Port, Ethernet Port, and supports 802.11ac. While it doesn’t have voice capability, it can be controlled by voice through Echo or Fire TV streaming devices.
How to Watch Live & Recorded Programming on Fire TV Recast
Once you connect your Fire TV Recast, your Fire TV will have On Now and DVR menus, so you can easily access live and recorded program. It includes a standard Channel Guide, which includes live content from the Fire TV Recast, but will begin integrating other services as well.
Out of the gate, if you subscribe to PlayStation Vue, you will be able to see live channels directly from the standard Fire TV guide.
The DVR is relatively basic, allowing you to record all episodes of a show, but not individual or only new episodes. You can prioritize your recording, so if you have multiple simultaneous shows, it will record your favorites.
