Fans Outraged as ESPN App Crashes During LSU vs. Clemson National Championship Game

This year’s College Football National Championship game with the Clemson Tigers facing off against the Louisiana State University Tigers was one of the most highly anticipated games of the season. The game, which saw two equally qualified teams go head to head over the national title, was scheduled to air on ESPN and stream live on the ESPN app. However, many fans were outraged as the app crashed right as the game was starting.

“According to Down Detector, 90 percent of those reporting problems were trying to stream the video online while 8 percent were reporting issues with the TV channel. Two percent had issues with the website,” Fox News reported.

And according to the New York Post, Awful Announcing — a sports fan web site — found that the ESPN app was causing problems for Charter Spectrum and Verizon Fios customers. The stream remained unavailable for some users even as the second quarter was underway.

LSU ended up beating Clemson, 42-25, to win the national title.
