HBO Max and Quibi have been tapped as keynotes for Canne Marché’s online version of Meet the Streamers. The event is part of Marché du Film Online, which takes place June 22 to 26.
Representing HBO Max is Sandra Dewey, president of productions and business operations for WarnerMedia Entertainment. This will be the first time the streaming service will be presented on an international platform after launching on May 27.
“I am honored to be a part of the first-ever Marché du Film Online, a film market that exemplifies excellence in creativity and filmmaking,” stated Dewey. “I am looking forward to discussing my insight into launching HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s brand new streaming service of which I am both tremendously proud and so excited to share, during this unique time. Our industry is facing never before experienced challenges, but also the tremendous opportunity that springs from the well of change.”
Participants for Quibi will be revealed at a later date.
According to Deadline, Adam Lewinson, chief content officer of Tubi, will conduct a session, along with Richard Cooper, research director at Ampere Analysis, discussing, “the evolution of streaming platforms and what will come next to compete with, and complement, the incumbent subscription services.”
“A panel focusing on innovative independent streaming platforms across the world will feature panelists Jaume Ripoll, co-founder and editorial director at Spain-based Filmin, a successful art-film, upscale series platform; veteran U.S. independent Richard Lorber, president of Kino Marquee and Kino Lorber, a buyer of multiple big festival winners; and Olle Agebro, head of acquisitions for Draken Film, Sweden’s leading arthouse SVOD service backed by its Göteborg Film Festival,” Variety noted.
