Disney+ is has already renewed High School Musical: The Musical: The Series before it even gets to the streamer. The series which will stream exclusively on Disney+ when the service launches on November 12th. The series is set to get an early premiere to help launch it on ABC, Freeform, and Disney Channel on Friday, November 8th.
The scripted series is a mockumentary following a group of students attending the real school where Disney Channel filmed the High School Musical trilogy. When their drama teacher discovers that the school has never actually staged a performance of the musical, she’s “shocked, inspired and triggered,” and immediately holds auditions.
Disney+ will launch on Nov. 12 at $6.99 per month, or $70 per year ($5.83/month). The first year will include 25 new original series, 10+ movies, 7,500 past episodes, 100 recent movies, and 400 library titles. By 2024, the company expects to have 50+ new original series, 10+ movies, ~10,000 past episodes, 120+ recent movies, and 500+ library titles.
