You can stream “Hamilton’ with Disney+ on a wide variety of streaming players, smart TVs, gaming consoles, mobile devices, and tablets. On most streaming players, you can stream Hamilton in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio.
“Hamilton” was originally slated to hit theaters in October 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film’s theatrical stint was completely axed as Disney announced it would debut on the streaming service 15 months earlier.
The show was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also produced the show along with Jeffrey Seller and Thomas Kail, who directed the film. In addition to the 11 Tony Awards, the musical has also garnered a Grammy Award, Olivier Award and Pulitzer Prize.
Just last week, Miranda revealed the film version had undergone some minor edits in order for it to be deemed appropriate for the Disney+ demographic. The original version of the show contains the word “f––” multiple times, as well as some stylized sexually suggestive material and gun violence.
According to the Motion Picture Association of America, the organization tasked with rating films exhibited and distributed commercially in the United States, “A motion picture’s single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating.”
