Luke Evans is the latest big name added to the cast of Hulu’s upcoming limited series “Nine Perfect Strangers,” according to Deadline. He joins other previously announced heavy-hitters Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy.

“Nine Perfect Strangers” is based on “Big Little Lies” author Liane Moriarty’s latest book. The series “takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living,” Deadline notes.

The screenplay was adapted by Samantha Strauss, David E. Kelley, and John Henry Butterworth. Kelley and Butterworth will also serve as co-showrunners. “Nine Perfect Strangers” is slated to debut in 2021.

The show was one of a slew of original dramas Hulu announced during their 2020 NewFront presentation earlier this week. Also on deck is the previously announced “Dopesick,” starring Michael Keaton. The series is based on a bestselling book of the same name written by Beth Macy. The project is a collaboration between Barry Levinson, who is slated to direct, “Empire” co-creator/exec producer Danny Strong, “The Handmaid’s Tale” executive producer Warren Littlefield and Fox 21 Television Studios, Deadline reports.

Hulu will also debut original dramas “The Dropout” with Kate McKinnon and “The Mysterious Benedict Society,” which features Emmy Award winner Tony Hale, as well as comedies “Only Murders in the Building,” starring comedic legends Steve Martin and Martin Short; “Love, Beth,” starring and executive produced by Amy Schumer; and “Woke,” featuring Lamorne Morris.
