‘Manifest’ Saved By Netflix; Show’s Mysteries To Be Answered In Super-Sized Final Season

Following a major set of negotiations between show organizers and Netflix, Manifest has come back from the dead for what will be a 20-episode-long fourth and final season that will solve all of the mysteries behind the disappearance of Flight 828.

The series was canceled by NBC following a cliffhanger final episode in May that left many questions unanswered in the storyline.

According to a report from Deadline, with the final season running 20 episodes, it will be split into multiple parts — as is customary for Netflix's original series.

Manifest lead studio Warner Bros. TV began negotiations with the show's cast earlier this month, along with reaching out to writers who had previously worked on the show as well as new ones about joining executive producer/showrunner Jeff Rake for an anticipated fourth season.

Netflix

Netflix is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 3,000+ movies, 2,000+ TV Shows, and Netflix Originals like Stranger Things, Squid Game, The Crown, Tiger King, and Bridgerton. They are constantly adding new shows and movies. Some of their Academy Award-winning exclusives include Roma, Marriage Story, Mank, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Netflix offers three plans — on 2 device in HD with their “Standard with Ads” ($6.99) plan, on 2 devices in HD with their “Standard” ($15.49) plan, and 4 devices in up to 4K on their “Premium” ($22.99) plan.

Netflix spends more money on content than any other streaming service meaning that you get more value for the monthly fee.

In a nod to Manifest‘s fans, whose passionate support helped resurrect the show following its cancellation by NBC, Deadline said, the announcement of the Season 4 pickup by Netflix was made on so-called “828 Day” (8/28) — when the series about the mystery of Flight 828 is celebrated annually — at 8:28 AM PT.

Deadline said that canceled broadcast series finding new homes tend to be extremely rare. In the case of Manifest, the resurrection is considered even more unusual because it has come after Warner Bros. TV had already concluded its campaign to find a new home for the series following its cancellation by NBC.

Fans, however, bolstered by a #SaveManifest online movement continued to push company officials to reverse their decision on the show. Viewership of the first two seasons of the show in Netflix surged over the summer months, pushing the series to the top spot on Nielsen’s weekly streaming ratings, and, according to Deadline, landing a record six-week-streak with more than 1 billion minutes viewed.

Season 3 was added to Netflix in the United States last weekend as negotiations between Netflix and Warner Bros. TV were underway. Prior to that point, Season 3 could be viewed on Peacock.
