Sling TV announced this afternoon that they have overhauled the interface on their Apple TV app with new design features.
The redesign features an updated grid guide, easier management of favorites & recordings, more information on show pages, and better remote capabilities. You can see screenshots of the new Apple TV app below.
The company expects to roll-out these enhancements to other platforms like Roku and Fire TV in the future.
New Grid Guide
The most dramatic change is a completely overhauled grid guide. The new design shows more images and information — including a description and photo preview at the top of the screen.
The guide is now larger, so you can see five channels at a time. Filters have moved the left-hand side of the screen, so you can still easily filter by category including your favorites.
If you want to see content on a specific channel, just click on a channel logo to see all available shows.
More Informative Show Pages
When you click into a show, you’ll see an improved show page. You’ll see a well-designed poster image with episode information below. On the left-hand side, you’ll see all seasons available — with episode information on the right.
Manage Favorites & Recordings
Sling has moved the Manage buttons to the front of the ribbons for My Channels and Recordings. You will no longer have to scroll to the end to edit favorite channels or recordings.
Improved Carousel
Carousels will now loop back to the beginning when you reach the end of a row. They have also added a blue outline on your current selection, so you know exactly where you are on the ribbon.
Remote Capabilities
You can now just tap the remote to see more information on what you’re watching. Sling will now display show name, description, closed caption options, player controls, and time.
