Stephen Curry to Host ‘Ultimate Home Championship’ Fundraising Event for YouTube Originals
The world may be slowly reopening, but with the COVID-19 still at large, most sports leagues are still on hiatus. Nonetheless, the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry will deliver some at-home entertainment for sports fans. According to Variety, the NBA star will be hosting the “UHC: Ultimate Home Championship,” a lighthearted competitive event for YouTube Originals.
The event will feature pro athletes as well as influencers who will all compete for the title of the “world’s greatest at-home athlete.” The UHC will raise funds for WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
“With ‘Ultimate Home Championship,’ we were able to create a fun and safe environment for entertaining competition,” Curry said in a statement. “We invited the best athletes in the world to compete and raise money for a great cause.”
The event will feature the likes of DeAndre Jordan, Kristopher London, Von Miller, Ronda Rousey, Lindsey Vonn, The F2, Ryan García as well as “sideline commentators” including gaming superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, ESPN’s Katie Nolan and “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ego Nwodim, Variety reported.
Activities will include laundry-hamper basketball, garbage-container hauling and a DIY high-jump.
The “Ultimate Home Championship” will stream on June 26, beginning at 12 p.m. ET on Curry’s YouTube channel. Viewers will be encouraged to donate to the WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund on the watch page.
