These are the 4K Titles Likely Available on Disney+ at Launch

Last month at the D23 Expo, Disney announced that Disney+ will allow subscribers to stream most of its originals and for some of its older library content in 4K. Now, thanks to an early test in the Netherlands, these are the shows and movies are already available in 4K.

Titles Available in 4K

  • A Wrinkle in Time
  • Aladdin
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Black Panther
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Captain America: The Winter Solider
  • Christopher Robin
  • Free Solo
  • Mary Poppins Returns
  • Ralph Breaks The Internet
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  • The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
  • The Prince Diaries
  • The Prince Diaries 2

While this might not exactly match, what is available in the U.S. due to content rights, this at least gives us comfort that many of the newer films will be able to be streamed in all their glory. Additionally, the early release in the Netherlands doesn’t include any Disney+ Originals, like The Mandalorian, which will all be available in 4K at launch.

Various streaming services have offered 4K content including Apple, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. Apple announced that their streaming service Apple TV+ would get access to 4K content from the very start.

Netflix has nearly 600 titles in 4K including their original series and some licensed content like Planet Earth, but requires their more expensive Ultra Plan ($16). Amazon Prime Video offers all it original content in 4K (some in HDR), as well as ~50 films like Arrival, Philadelphia, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Last month, Hulu brought back support for 4K content from their SVOD service after launching support in 2016 and abruptly removing it last year. Previously, you were able to stream Hulu Originals and select films like the entire James Bond library in 4K on gaming consoles like PS4 and Xbox One. However, Hulu only brought back support for 4K streaming to Apple TV 4K and Chromecast Ultra, this time around.
