AT&T to Shut Down Their WatchTV Live Streaming Service on November 30

AT&T is pulling the plug on WatchTV. The service launched in June 2018. It’s slated to discontinue on November 30. Customers who were on their Unlimited & More plan that included WatchTV, will get HBO Max at no extra charge, in its place.

AT&T stopped bundling WatchTV with wireless plans in late-2019, and has not allowed new sign-ups since June 2020.

In a statement to The Streamable, AT&T said:

We’re focused on building our core business of connectivity and our fiber expansion. To help this growth, we won’t support WatchTV after November 30, 2021. WatchTV customers who also have a premium subscription service associated with their WatchTV account will be provided HBO Max as a replacement.

WatchTV is a $15 skinny bundle that includes more than 35 channels from A&E, Discovery, Viacom, Hallmark, and Turner. It also included on-demand access to 15,000+ movies and shows. The service was free to customers who subscribed to their AT&T Unlimited & More Plans. It did not include a DVR.

In a message to some affected customers:

Hi, it’s AT&T. WatchTV will be going away on Nov 30 along with your paid Spotify subscription on Nov 6. You can contact Spotify directly to sign up to continue service. The good news is we’ve got you covered with HBO Max at no additional charge.

For customers that want a similar package, you can get Philo for $25 a month, which includes an Unlimited DVR and three simultaneous streams. If you want WarnerMedia channels like TNT, TBS, and CNN, your least expensive option would be Sling TV ($35), which is offering $25 Off Your First Month, and includes a 50 Hour DVR.
