Discovery May Launch a Skinny Bundle for $5 a Month

In a report from AdWeek, CEO of Discovery Networks, David Zaslav, shared that the company is considering launching an OTT service later this year.

Earlier this year, Discovery acquired Scripps for $14.6B, so the OTT service would include the entire portfolio of Discovery Inc. channels for $5-8 a month.

Some of the channels include:

• Discovery Channel
• Animal Planet
• TLC
• Investigation Discovery
• Food Network
• Travel Channel
• HGTV
• DIY Network
• Cooking Channel

The service could compete with other skinny bundles like Philo which includes 40 channels for $16 a month or AT&T WatchTV which is $15 a month (or free for AT&T Unlimited&More Subscribers).

You can already get these channels with other streaming services, but a $5 a month price point may make this attractive as an alternative to other cord shaving services.
