To celebrate Earth Day on April 22, the Smithsonian Channel is premiering a stunning environmental program titled “Last Call for the Bayou” on its digital platforms.
All five episodes of the show begin streaming on April 10.
The network will highlight the lives of those impacted by the perilous erosion facing the Louisiana Delta. They illustrate what the bayou means to the people who live there, as they fight to save their homes.
The “Bayou” will stream on www.smithsonianchannel.com. It will also stream free on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, as well as multiple streaming TV provider websites, apps and various on-demand channels.
In addition, Pluto TV, a subsidiary of ViacomCBS, will stream documentaries the week of April 20-25, focused on nature and climate change.
Some of the docs streaming on Pluto TV Animals include “Sharks: Scavengers of the Sea” and “Shark Man With Riley Elliott.” Gordon Ramsay, the star of “Hell’s Kitchen” will be featured in “Gordon Ramsay: Shark Bait,” in which he explores the shark-fishing industry.
In honor of Earth Month, Disney+ launched a series on nature films, including “Dolphin Reef,” narrated by Oscar winner Natalie Portman, and “Elephant” with narrator Meghan Markle.
EarthxFilms plans to kick off a streaming film festival on April 22, teaming with National Geographic. The films from the 2019 festival can be accessed here.
Also, the nonprofit We Don’t Have Time will air online a free climate conference April 20–25. It features various environmental speakers, including Christiana Figueres (founding partner, Global Optimism), Benjamin Santer (atmospheric scientist, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) and Anna Richert (Sustainable Food for All at WWF Sweden), among others.
