fuboTV Adds 13 Discovery Channels Including Discovery, Investigation Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet, OWN, MotorTrend, & More

Fubo and Discovery have reached an agreement to bring 13 additional networks to their base fubo and fubo Extra plans.

As part of the deal, Discovery Channel, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Animal Planet, OWN, and MotorTrend Network will be added to the standard Fubo plan ($55). The Fubo Extra add-on (+$6) will carry other Discovery-owned networks like Science Channel, Destination America, Discovery Family, American Heroes Channel, and Discovery Life. It is expected that the channels will roll-out on the service in the coming weeks.

The multi-year agreement will see the Discovery-owned networks join former Scripps Networks Interactive (acquired by Discovery) channels — HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, DIY Network, and Cooking Channel. This partnership also will bring Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia networks to fuboTV’s Spanish-language base package, fubo Latino ($25).

Discovery has aggressively been joining Live TV Streaming Services over the past year. In December, most networks were added to Hulu Live TV and Sling TV, while YouTube TV added the channels in April.

“Today’s content agreement broadens the strategic relationship between Discovery and fuboTV that began almost two years ago with the former Scripps Networks,” said Joel Armijo, CFO, fuboTV. “We are excited to be adding more Discovery brands alongside their lifestyle networks, which we already carry. These brands, including HGTV and Food Network, are among our top performing entertainment networks, and this agreement allows us to extend our partnership for years to come. We expect to be similarly successful with our new Discovery networks.”

Over the past 18 months, Fubo transitioned from a sports-focused streaming service to include 75+ channels from A&E, AMC, Turner, NBCU, Fox, Scripps, and Viacom. With the additions Fubo now has 31 of the Top 35 cable channels, five more than any other Live TV Streaming Service. Fubo now joins Philo and Sling TV as the only Live TV Streaming Services with both Discovery and Viacom channels.
