fuboTV announced this morning that they have appointed Geir Magnusson Jr., the former CTO of AppNexus and SourcePoint, as their new Chief Technology Officer.
Magnusson will be charged with setting the technical strategy, scaling the system infrastructure, and doubling the engineering team over the next few months. It is expected that he will lead the efforts in personalization, machine learning, and video technology like dynamic ad insertion.
fuboTV CEO David Gandler shared:

The addition comes at an important time for the company as they are quickly adding new enhancements like 4K HDR Streaming. Earlier this week, they became the first vMVPD to stream in 4K HDR with broadcasts of the World Cup.

Geir brings three decades of experience leading product and engineering for some of the US’s largest software companies and hot tech startups. Prior to fuboTV, Magnusson co-founded Sourcepoint Technologies in 2015 and was its chief technology officer until 2017. He previously spent two years at AppNexus, most recently as chief technology officer.
Previously, Magnusson has held senior positions at Gilt Groupe, 10gen (now MongoDB), Joost Technologies, Intel Corp. and Bloomberg, among others. Magnusson earned both his MS and BS from The Johns Hopkins University.
