Peacock Strikes Content Licensing Deal With ViacomCBS, Bringing Paramount Movies to Its Library

Merely two weeks before its national launch, Peacock is making sure to bulk up their content offerings. The NBCUniversal-owned streaming service announced they have struck a content licensing agreement with ViacomCBS, giving them access to some of the company’s beloved content.

Under the new agreement, Peacock will be able to carry shows such as “Ray Donovan,” “The Affair,” “Charmed,” (available in October), “Undercover Boss,” “The Game,” “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Real Husbands of Hollywood” when it launches nationally on July 15.

In addition, Peacock users will also get access to films from Paramount’s library that will stream on Peacock in limited exclusivity windows throughout 2021, 2022 and 2023. Films such as “The Godfather” trilogy, “Catch Me If You Can,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” “American Beauty,” “Patriot Games,” “Last Holiday,” “Fatal Attraction,” “The Firm” and “An Officer and a Gentleman” will all be part of the offering.

“We are truly excited to bring some of the most popular movies and series from across the ViacomCBS family of brands to Peacock,” Frances Manfredi, president, content acquisition and strategy, Peacock, said in a statement. “We continue to expand the Peacock catalog with premium programming from NBCUniversal and beyond; partnering with companies like ViacomCBS to ensure that all of our viewers can choose from the best entertainment options available in the market today.”

With is national launch date so close, the streamer has been getting their ducks in a row to ensure they’re available in as many homes as possible. Just last week, NBCUniversal announced when the streaming service launches on July 15, it will be available on all Google devices — including Android, Android TV devices, as well as Chromecast and Chromecast built-in devices. In addition, the service will also offer a free extended trial on Peacock Premium to Android and Android TV users until October 15.

NBCUniversal also released the first looks at its slate of original series premiering on July 15.
