Report: TiVo’s Roku and Apple TV Apps Are Put ‘On Hold’

Stephanie Sengwe

Tech Hive is reporting that TiVo’s Roku and Apple TV apps are “on hold” after the company provided them with a statement on the status of the apps.

Tech Hive had reported that Ted Malone, TiVo’s vice president of consumer products and services, revealed during an interview at CES 2020 in Las Vegas that Roku and Apple TV apps on their devices were currently in “limbo” but didn’t confirm they were canceled.

Tech Hive then updated their post after it was published to say that a “TiVo spokesperson said Malone had provided ‘inaccurate’ information, and the company provided a statement that nonetheless says TiVo’s Apple TV and Roku apps are ‘on hold.’”

At CES 2020 earlier this week, TiVo announced the launch of their new TiVo Stream 4K — a streaming player with live TV and Cloud DVR from the Sling TV app. The TiVo Stream 4K will use Sling TV as the preferred source for subscription TV, but it will also integrate other streaming services such as HBO, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube.

TiVo Stream 4K comes with a device that plugs into the HDMI port on your TV that helps to deliver Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision HDR for optimum sound. The device also comes with TiVo’s “peanut” remote control for voice search.
