In May, CBS All Access dropped the first trailer for the show and even though the main plot wasn’t revealed, the voiceover suggested that Picard “commanded the greatest armada in history” 15 years ago until an “unimaginable” event forced him to leave Starfleet and retire to his family’s infamous vineyard. The first season seems to explore what might have happened.

“Picard” is preceded by “Star Trek: Discovery,” which premiered it’s second season last January. It was set ten years before Captain Kirk’s five-year mission, as shown in the original “Star Trek” series from the 1960s, and chronicled Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the U.S.S Discovery as they investigated seven mysterious signals.

“Picard” has already generated enough buzz to be renewed for a second season. Season two will also be made up of 10 episodes and have weekly episodes, according to Deadline.
