Tubi Continues to Expand Original Content With Bruce Willis Sci-Fi Movie

Fox-owned Tubi is following through with its announced strategy of rolling out original content with the Wednesday announcement of the original movie event Corrective Measures, a science fiction action movie starring Bruce Willis and Michael Rooker and featuring an ensemble cast.

Earlier this year, Fox said they were ramping up the number of original productions coming from the ad-supported streaming service, including scripted content as well as original documentaries from Fox Alternative Entertainment and animated titles from Fox Entertainment’s Emmy Award-winning animation studio, Bento Box Entertainment. According to a Fox release on Wednesday, more than 140 hours of new content are set to debut on Tubi over the next year.

Tubi joins Roku in producing original content for the ad-supported video-on-demand space.

Last January, Roku inked a deal to buy Quibi’s content library and later rebranded 75 titles as Roku Originals for release on The Roku Channel. As of July, Roku had 53.6 million active accounts. More users watched the rebranded Quibi content on the Roku Channel in their first two weeks of release than on Quibi in eight months. Some of the rebranded Roku titles have been renewed for a second season. In addition, Roku has announced additional new content for release over the coming months.

Tubi

Tubi is a free video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 200,000+ movies and TV episodes - more than any other streaming service. Its ad breaks are shorter and less frequent than most free services. Fox executives have called their service “TV on steroids.”

The service includes 55+ live news channels affiliated with NBC, FOX, Cox Media Group, Hearst, and Scripps. Local affiliates provide coverage in most major media markets.

Tubi’s programming includes films and television series from Fox Entertainment, MGM, Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., NBCUniversal, Disney, and more.

Based on the popular graphic novel of the same title, Corrective Measures is written, directed, and produced by Sean Patrick O’Reilly (Howard Lovecraft, The Kingdom of Madness) and is set in San Tiburon, the world’s most dangerous maximum-security penitentiary and home to the world’s most treacherous superpowered criminals where tensions among the inmates and staff heighten, leading to anarchy that engulfs the prison and order is turned upside down. Todd Masters of MastersFX will head the character and creature design. Produced by Arcana Productions LLC and executive-produced by The Exchange, Corrective Measures is set for a Spring 2022 premiere on Tubi.

“We’re excited to be harnessing the creative talent of Sean Patrick O’Reilly, Bruce Willis, Michael Rooker, and Todd Masters to bring this celebrated comic book series to life,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer at Tubi. “Corrective Measures is a powerfully authentic and captivating sci-fi action film that speaks to our unwavering commitment to provide the Tubi audience with a broad array of compelling original content.”

Tubi has more than 35,000 movies and television series from over 250 content partners, including every major studio, in addition to the largest offering of free live local and national news channels in streaming. The platform gives fans of entertainment, news and sports an easy way to discover new content that is available completely free. Fox executives have described Tubi as “TV on steroids.”

Tubi is available on Android and iOS mobile devices, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Android TV devices as well as smart TVs around the world. Consumers can watch Tubi content on the web at http://www.tubi.tv/.
