You Can Now Use Sling to Watch Free On Demand and Subscribe to Individual Channels & PPV Events without a Subscription

Sling TV announced today that you can now use the service to watch free on demand shows, subscribe to individual channels like Showtime, and to purchase PPV events even if you don’t have a Sling Orange or Blue subscription.

Free On Demand Shows on Sling

Beginning with users on Roku, customers can access more than 100 hours of free TV shows and movies for free. The My TV section will include free shows and movies like “Wrecked,” “The Detour,” “Good Behavior,” “Flip or Flop” and more.

We expect Sling to roll it out to other platforms in the near future.

Subscribe to Channels with Sling

Sling also launched a service similar to Amazon Channels where you can subscribe to individual channels à la carte without needing a Sling Orange or Blue subscription.

You can subscribe to channels like Showtime, CuriosityStream, and NBA League Pass directly from the Sling interface.

As part of the announcement, Sling added three new on demand channels to the marketplace: Stingray Karaoke, Outside TV, and Dove. You will be able to sample content from the channels before subscribing.

Buy PPV Events with Sling

Sling TV was the first Live TV Streaming Service to offer PPV events.

Since 2017, Sling has offered popular UFC fights and boxing matches for purchase by Sling Blue and Sling Orange subscribers. Starting today, consumers can access these PPV events as a one-time purchase without purchasing a Sling TV base subscription.

Highlighting personal journeys and human emotions of the action and adventure sports world, Outside TV Features includes full-length feature films, TV series and award-winning documentaries like “Shipwrecked” and “Between the Peaks.” You can now access a wide selection of on-demand content that showcases accomplished athletes, filmmakers and adventure seekers. For $5 per month, you can add Outside TV Features to any Sling TV subscription, or purchase on a standalone basis.
