Coming to Streaming: ‘The Croods: Family Tree,’ ‘Red Notice,’ Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix project and More
“The Croods: Family Tree” will stream on Hulu and Peacock, a spinoff of the movie and last-year’s sequel. The six-episode series centers on the character voiced by “Star Wars” star Kelly Marie Tran. It’s the ongoing story of the Croods and the Bettermans as they live together on an idyllic farm, going from rivals to friends, with various misadventures en route. The series premieres on Sept. 23.

The trailer for “Red Notice,” the blockbuster starring Dwayne Johnson as a determined FBI agent after two high-end art thieves, played by Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, just dropped. The Netflix drama, coming Nov. 12, is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber.

Beginning Sept. 13, BNC Go will showcase the leading voices in the black community in business, entertainment, travel, sports, etc. BNC Go launches on more than 200 million internet-connected devices via agreements with Amazon Fire TV, Pluto, Roku, Tubi, Samsung, Vizio and more. It will stream 24/7and deliver 18 hours of original content every weekday from 6 a.m. to midnight (ET). Original shows include “The Morning Hype,” “The Midday Jolt” and “After 6ix.”

“Cabinet of Curiosities,” the Netflix anthology series from Guillermo del Toro, has announced cast members. They include Essie Davis, Luke Roberts, Andrew Lincoln, F. Murray Abraham, Glynn Turman and Ben Barnes. The streamer says the live-action stories should challenge audiences’ traditional notions of horror.

Starting Sept. 20, Tom Llamas will stream a new one-hour program, 7 p.m. weekdays, on NBC News Now. The former ABC News correspondent and host of the “World News Tonight” weekend edition, will utilize reporters from NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, Sky News and Telemundo. Each day, he will also air a segment called “The Americas,” in addition to breaking coverage.

Apple TV+ “Dickinson” ends with its third season. It begins Nov. 5, streaming the first three episodes. The next seven episodes will roll out one at a time, each subsequent Friday, ending Dec. 24. “Dickinson” creator, writer and executive producer Alena Smith will make her directorial debut this season. Smith said she was eager to “bring our audience along with us to the conclusion of Emily’s coming-of-age saga, as she continues to fight for her own poetic truth, while reckoning with so many of the issues that face us now.”

Pet-focused The Dodo launches “Family Room” entertainment destination designed for parents and their kids. The vertical is sponsored on the site by Paramount+ and Target and will feature family-friendly video programming, children’s activities and parent-oriented content. “The Dodo is a beloved media brand that creates entertaining, inspiring and positive content, which has attracted a massive audience of nearly 50M parents in the U.S.,” said The Dodo’s president, YuJung Kim. “PAW Patrol: The Movie” is now streaming on Paramount+.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM), which streams ad-free classic films has a new tagline: “Where Then Meets Now” to reframe the conversation around 20th century films for the 21st century. “Everything old is new, and classic movies are no exception,” said Pola Changnon, general manager of TCM. “Our new look better reflects the vibrant brand and respected industry authority that TCM has become over the years, with an eye toward the future.” The new logo focuses on the double C in the new TCM logo. The double ‘C’ represents a modern take on the classic film lens and the four key Cs of the brand: curation, context, connection and culture.
“The Addams Family 2” animated sequel will debut in theaters and be available for online rental with Premium on Demand on October 1. The comedy features familiar voices, including Charlize Theron as Morticia, Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Bill Hader as Cyrus, Snoop Dogg as It, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester and Bette Midler as Grandma. The premise is a family RV road trip sprinkled with spooky fun.
