Amazon Renews ‘Goliath’ for a Fourth and Final Season

Amazon Studios just renewed legal drama “Goliath,” headed by Billy Bob Thornton, for a fourth and final season.

Vernon Sanders, co-head of television at Amazon Studios, called “Goliath,” created by David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro, “one of our most popular shows ever on Prime Video.” (Kelley created many successful shows, including “Big Little Lies,” “Boston Legal” and “The Practice.”)

In 2016, “Goliath” was the streamer’s first straight-to-series order.

The show stars Golden Globe-winner Thornton as hard-drinking, once-famous L.A. lawyer Billy McBride. His specialty is representing clients against powerful, but corrupt institutions each eight-episode season.

The third season of the show began October 4, adding Dennis Quaid, Amy Brenneman and Beau Bridges to the cast. McBride is investigating a friend’s death in California’s drought-stricken Central Valley and is pitted against a billionaire rancher.

Executive producer Lawrence Trilling said: “Our latest case tackles a timely global crisis that impacts an entire generation, and we will be adding some exceptional talent to our already amazing cast.”

At one time, reports Deadline, “Goliath” was Amazon’s most-binged show.
