Amazon’s IMDb TV Orders ‘Leverage’ Reboot, Noah Wyle Cast as Lead

“Leverage,” the former TNT hit series, will get a new life and a new home. According to Deadline, Amazon’s free, ad-supported streaming service, IMDb TV, has ordered a reimagining of the show, making it their first major original series on the platform.

The newer version will have Noah Wyle as the lead while original cast members Beth Riesgraf, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane and Aldis Hodge are slated to return to the series.

“Since the day it was canceled, I’ve longed to return to the world of Leverage. The show, the characters, the cast and the people who made it happen all hold a very special place in my heart,” said Dean Devlin, one of the show’s creators. “Our new series with Amazon Studios and IMDb TV is a re-imagining of the original premise. While ‘Leverage’ centered on a crusade to avenge the death of a child, this series is propelled forward as a redemption story of misdeeds that need amends.”

Earlier this year, IMDb TV’s content was moved under Amazon Studios, with two Amazon vets named as co-heads of content: Ryan Pirozzi and Lauren Anderson. The move gave IMDb TV access to a major talent lineup and allows Amazon Studios’ showrunners to program the free IMDb TV service and Amazon Prime Video.

Last July, IMDb TV announced it would premiere its first ever scripted series titled, “You’re Not A Monster,” in the fall. The animated, 10-episode, short-form series saw Kelsey Grammer returning to the therapist’s chair since his days on “Frasier,” as he voices a former psychiatrist-turned-vampire, who mentors his great-great grandson Max (played by Eric Stonestreet), a therapist who has inherited his practice.
