‘And We Go Green’ to Stream on Hulu, Doc Covers Formula E Electric Car World

“And We Go Green,” a documentary from Appian Way, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, will stream June 4 on Hulu.

The 88-minute eco-friendly doc charts the rise of Formula E electric car racing and its relationship to pollution and global warming. The show first premiered at Cannes Film Festival last year, produced by DiCaprio and Malcolm Venville.

Co-directed by Oscar-winner Fisher Stevens (“Before the Flood”), “Green” employs key interviews and footage to examine the world’s fastest-growing motorsport. Current champ Jean-Eric Vergne, former Formula E driver Nelson Piquet Jr., and major drivers Sam Bird, Lucas di Grassi and André Lotterer are featured.

The film tracks the pros that compete in 10 cities during the 2017-18 season.

“As people have been quarantining in their homes, we can see what the world can look like without so much carbon being pumped into the air, and the planet is coming back to life,” Stevens and Venville stated. “In making our film, we realized the best way to get the world to pay attention to climate change is to make a film about people — in this case, race-car drivers and an upstart with a vision to change motorsport forever.”

“And We Go Green” is written by Mark Monroe, known for the documentaries “Icarus” and “Girl Named Sue.”

Separately, Deadline reports Neil Paik’s short story “Reawakening,” published in the online magazine “Six by Eight Press,” will be turned into a series by Amazon Studios. Paik will adapt and co-executive produce. The sci-fi story is about siblings on opposite sides of a violent conflict between Earth refugees and citizens of a utopian planet.

Paik sold a second “Six by Eight Press” story “Rainbowfish” to Warner Bros, which he will adapt and executive produce. He will make his directorial debut with “The Beautiful Ones,” which explores how a young vet, troubled teen and journalist become bound together, linked by a Polaroid camera.
