BREAKING: Fox RSNs & YES Network To Be Dropped From YouTube TV on February 29th

Just before the start on baseball season, YouTube TV is about to lose 21 Fox Regional Sports Networks and YES Network beginning February 29th. While the service still carries RSNs from NBC Sports and NESN — it’s a major blow to subscribers for a service that positions themselves for sports fans.

In a statement to The Streamable, a YouTube spokesperson shared:

Our goal with YouTube TV is to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want. Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to reach an agreement with Sinclair, the content provider that offers the FOX Regional Sports Networks and YES Network.

Starting February 29, 2020, users will no longer be able to watch live, on demand, or recorded content from these networks. We don’t take this decision lightly, and will continue to do our best to make YouTube TV a best-in-class experience.

Just yesterday, Sinclair CEO Chris Ripley confirmed that “YouTube was an active negotiation in the near term.”

This isn’t the only Live TV Streaming Service in a dispute with Sinclair over Fox Regional Sports Networks. In late July, Sling TV and Dish Network dropped the channels after being unable to reach an extension. In January, fuboTV dropped the RSNs from their service.

The channels are still dark on both services. With the shutdown on PlayStation Vue, Fox Regional Sports Networks will now only available to streamers on Hulu Live TV and AT&T TV NOW.

The channels which were acquired by Sinclair Broadcast Group from Disney, after netting them as part of their deal for 21st Century Fox. FOX Regional Sports Networks broadcasts local telecasts of 14 MLB teams, 17 NBA teams and 13 NHL teams.
