Disney Plus Taps Lauren Graham to Lead ‘The Mighty Ducks’ Series

Lauren Graham (“Gilmore Girls,” “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”) will headline the new Disney+ series “The Mighty Ducks.”

The series, based on the 1992 hit movie, will debut on the streamer as a 10-episode original series. Graham is also a co-executive producer.

In the modern-day version, the Mighty Ducks are now a competitive, strong hockey team. When 12-year-old Evan, played by Brady Noon (“Good Boys”) is cut from the Ducks, he and his mother (Graham) defy the odds. They build their own team and take on the cutthroat world of youth sports.

Graham was also featured on all six seasons of NBC’s “Parenthood” and she reprised her Lorelai Gilmore role in “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” on Netflix in 2016.

In addition, her novel “Someday, Someday, Maybe” became a bestseller in 2013.

Noon will next be seen in the comedy “Marry Me” opposite Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson.

“The Mighty Ducks” is produced by ABC Signature Studios, part of Disney Television Studios. Steve Brill, the original creator-writer-executive producer of all three films, is back as co-creator and executive producer.

Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa (“The King of Queens,” “13 Going On 30”) are co-creators and will serve as showrunners. James Griffiths and Michael Spiller are onboard as executive producers; Griffiths will direct.
