During today’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, NBC had a surprise visitor. E.T. is back on earth in search for Elliott, who now has his own family. The short, which brings together Comcast properties like NBC, Universal, and Xfinity, shows how technology has changed since E.T. was last on earth — and promotes how to reconnect for the holidays.
Below is the full four minute short which , which is twice as long as the video that premiered during the parade. The short film will also air on SYFY on Thanksgiving Day and will be available on-demand for Xfinity TV and Xfinity Flex customers. Xfinity TV customers with X1 & Flex will be able to say “E.T. Phone Home” into their Voice Remote for an E.T.-themed destination.
The original film created by Steven Spielberg and stars a young Drew Barrymore, follows a gentle alien that becomes stranded on Earth, the being is discovered and befriended by a young boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas). Bringing the extraterrestrial into his suburban California house, Elliott introduces E.T., as the alien is dubbed, to his brother and his little sister, Gertie (Barrymore), and the children decide to keep its existence a secret. Soon, however, E.T. falls ill, resulting in government intervention and a dire situation for both Elliott and the alien.
