‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ No Longer Slated for August Release on Disney Plus

Disney+ didn’t include “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” in their August release calendar. The show was originally scheduled to premiere next month, but filming was halted in March, given COVID-19 concerns.

There is no new release date, according to EW.

The series, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stars Anthony Mackie (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Ant-Man”) and Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The First Avenger”). It is set after “Avengers: Endgame” and according to the studio, takes Falcon (Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Stan) on “a global adventure that tests their abilities — and their patience.”

However, other Disney+ shows still are on track for this year. “WandaVision” is scheduled for a December debut date, while “Loki” premieres next year.

In addition, the streamer announced the documentary “Howard,” the story of Oscar-winning lyricist Howard Ashman (“Aladdin, “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Shop of Horrors”), arrives August 7.

Archival footage, personal films and photographs will augment interviews with friends and family. “Howard” charts the rise of the gifted lyricist, who often collaborated with composer Alan Menken on memorable movies and musicals.
