Over the past year, many services have added support for 60 FPS across their channels. The next big migration is to add 1080p support for channels that currently stream in 720p. Hulu has told us that the service is planning to roll this out on select channels this month.
While the list of channels is not yet available, it will first come to Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, and Samsung Smart TV devices. They have said that additional channels and devices will be coming soon. The news comes as users on Reddit noticed an enhancement to select channels on YouTube TV this weekend, indicating that they may be making a similar upgrade.
Hulu Live TV offers 26 of the top 35 cable channels. The service is noticeably missing Viacom channels (such as Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, and VH1), as well as AMC and Hallmark. Last year, Hulu added channels from Discovery including Animal Planet, Discovery, Hallmark Channel, OWN et TLC.
However, while sports are dark for now, when they return, they are one of the only services that has YES Network, Fox Sports West, Fox Sports Prime Ticket, Marquee Sports Network and wide-availability of Fox Sports RSNs.
The top 35 cable channels are listed below. For a list of all channels, look at Hulu’s full channel lineup.
