DC Universe, the video streaming service owned by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros, is celebrating 80 years of Batman with an amazing deal. From March 29 - April 1, you can get your first month for just $0.80 and then $7.99 a month after that (or $75 for the year).
While the deal runs four days, the celebration of the Caped Crusader will happen on March 30th. During the 24 hours, Batman-related content will be FREE meaning you can read Crusader’s origin in Frank Miller’s landmark “Year One”, watch Tim Burton’s 1989 movie blockbuster, and binge the Batman: The Animated Series.
Once you subscribe, you’ll get unlimited access to DC television, movies, and original content like the new Titans and Doom Patrol series.
Titans, the service’s first original series, premiered in October and has already been renewed for a second season. The spin-off Doom Patrol premiered in February and is a reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcasts: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman and Crazy Jane.
DC Universe also has classic shows like Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, and animated series like Young Justice and Justice League. You can access all the content on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, iOS, Android, and Web
The service’s other original content so far is a daily news show that delivers news related to DC Comics, DC original content, and the fan community. The service is working to develop other shows as well, with plans for a live action Stargirl series and Metropolis, a Superman prequel in the works.
While you can stream DC content, it is also a way to read DC comics through their built-in e-reader, consult their encyclopedia for information on DC characters, and find DC merchandise in the store. The service also features a forum space for DC fans to talk and share thoughts about shows and comics.
DC Universe is a different take on the streaming service model used by Netflix and Hulu. DC’s range of content is much narrower, but they provide depth into the community of fans that they serve by offering access to movies, TV, comics, and discussion all in one space.
