Netflix may have lost “Friends,” but they’re reloading with another hugely influential sitcom from NBC’s 1990s lineup. The entire run of “Seinfeld” will be available on Netflix starting October 1.
This is the first time that every episode of “Seinfeld” will be available on one service across the entire planet. The episodes will also be available in 4K, so you can appreciate the fine texture of the marble rye or Jason Alexander’s chest hair.
Until now, “Seinfeld” had been tied up in an exclusive deal with Hulu.
Rolling Stone recently named the series the third greatest sitcom of all time.
Fans of Seinfeld’s comedy can already watch a lot of stand-up performances on Netflix. “I'm Telling You for the Last Time” (1998), “Jerry Before Seinfeld” (2017), and “23 Hours to Kill” (2020) are already included in a Netflix subscription.
You can also see Jerry riffing with famous funny people in Netflix’s 11 seasons of “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”
Another wonderful watch is the 2002 documentary “Comedian,” which shows how Jerry puts together his material and assembles a stand-up routine. The film contrasts the established star against a young, upcoming comedian, who faces different challenges in his stand-up career and often lashes out when he hits a wall.
Seinfeld
A stand-up comedian and his three offbeat friends weather the pitfalls and payoffs of life in New York City in the ’90s. It’s a show about nothing.
