Quibi Announces Adventure Series ‘Killing Zac Efron’ Starring and Produced by Zac Efron
Quibi continues to add to their content library. The upcoming short-form streaming service announced “Killing Zac Efron,” a new adventure series starring and executive produced by Zac Efron. The series follows the star as he heads into the jungles of a remote island to carve his own name into expedition history. Efron falls off the grid for 21 days with nothing but basic gear, a guide partner and the will to survive.
“I tend to thrive under extreme circumstances and seek out opportunities that challenge me on every level,” Efron stated. “I am excited to explore any uncharted territory and discover what unexpected adventure awaits!”
Quibi, which launches on April 6, 2020, was founded by DreamWorks founder Jeffrey Katzenberg and former eBay CEO Meg Whitman. The streaming service has been gleaning content for their platform. They currently have content lined up with ESPN, which will be the exclusive U.S. multi-sport content provider for Quibi’s curated news and information programming, Daily Essentials.
Earlier this month, Quibi announced that Cara Delevingne will executive produce and host a new series being produced by ITV America’s Sirens Media. In each episode of the show, Delevingne, along with some female accomplices will wreak havoc, executing a new stunt or practical joke, putting themselves in unwieldy and unpredictable situations in the process.
Quibi also partnered with CBS to produce 60 in 6, a more condensed version of 60 Minutes. The show will offer the same gripping news content as the original, but will do so in only six minutes. This short-form version will also have separate stories and different correspondents than the show veterans who appear on the Sunday night version on CBS.
Quibi (short for quick bites) will focus on high-quality short form content that is designed to be watched on your smartphone. The mobile streaming streaming will offer two plans — $4.99 with ads and $7.99 without ads. The ad-supported product will include a pre-roll ad, as well as a one to two mid-roll ads depending on the length of the content.
