There is speculation on Twitter this evening that AT&T-owned WarnerMedia will name their upcoming streaming service VergeTV. MediaPost Senior Editor, Alex Weprin, spotted a trademark filing for the names “VergeTV” and “Verge TV.”
Last April, AT&T named their Live Skinny Bundle AT&T WatchTV, so VergeTV would fit a similar naming convention. The service, which doesn’t have an official launch date, is expecte to launch in late-2019.
During a presentation to investors in November, AT&T shared that the service would have multiple tiers. Their entry-level tier will focus on movies without an original programming. A second tier would include both original programming and blockbuster movies, with a third including a library of WarnerMedia-owned and licensed content broader than just HBO, Turner, and Warner Bros.
