Don’t Expect to Stream the Los Angeles Dodgers In-Market Anytime Soon

According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, there doesn’t seem to be any sign that Dodgers games will be available via streaming services in the near future.

The Dodgers agreed to a $8.35 billion rights deal with Charter Communications (formerly Time Warner Cable) in 2013 which included both television and streaming rights for their SportsNet LA channel.

However, most Dodgers fans in Los Angeles can’t get the channel unless they are a Charter customer. Both cable and satellite customers, as well as streamers are stuck without watching regular season Dodgers games.

MLB Commissioner, Rob Manfred, has reportedly explored various ways to give fans the ability to stream Dodgers games in the Los Angeles market, but to no avail.

The report said that Manfred has tried to broker a deal between SportsNet LA and DirecTV, as well as attempted to build an OTT service for the channel via MLB.TV.

Unfortunately, at least for this season, Dodgers fans in Los Angeles without cable are stuck with national broadcasts on ESPN and FOX.

While 10 games will be simulcast on KTLA, the CW affiliate in the Los Angeles market, none of the streaming services currently offer the channel.

If the NL West leading Dodgers do end up making the playoffs, all games will be available on ESPN, FS1, and FOX which are available on most services.
