Pluto TV Launches Pluto TV Latino, An Ad-Supported Streaming Bundle for Hispanic Viewers

Pluto TV announced the launch of Pluto TV Latino, a new category on the platform featuring 11 linear Spanish and Portuguese-language channels. Pluto TV Latino is the first offering of its kind on a major free, ad-supported OTT service.

Acquired last January by Viacom for $340 million, the ad-supported, video on demand service was already expanding under its new company. In May, the free ad-supported streaming service, launched 14 linear channels with classic content from Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon and in June, CEO of Viacom, Bob Bakish, announced the launch of Pluto TV Latino at the Credit Suisse Communications Conference.

Across the 11 channels, Pluto TV Latino is offering movies, comedy, music, true crime, reality, sports and telenovelas. Three movie-themed channels offer blockbuster and native Spanish-language films. Genre-specific channels from MTV, Comedy Central, Telemundo, Combate World and Lucha Libre feature library collections, music specials, comedies, crime series, telenovelas and more. Programming is in native Spanish-speaking as well as dubbed versions.

The service will first debut in the U.S., while it is expected to be expand to Latin America in 2020. Pluto TV is already available internationally in UK, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, but the company has major international expansion plans. The company is hoping to aggressively expand the growth of the service, which competes with services like Tubi, Xumo, and Sinclair-owned STIRR.

Pluto TV Latino will add more channels this fall in areas such as food, travel, competition, kids as well as channels focused on single series channels. With this new expansion Pluto TV which just reached 16 million monthly active users in May is expected to double its revenue this year.
