SCOOP: PlayStation Vue Adds Nexstar NBC Affiliates, Closing in On 700 ABC, NBC, CBS, & FOX Locals
This morning, some PlayStation Vue subscribers started noticing new local NBC affiliates appearing in their guide. We’ve now confirmed that the service has added nearly 50 new NBC affiliates in markets like Austin, Fresno, Portland, and Little Rock — primarily from Nexstar Media Group (a full list is below). PS Vue now has more than 690 local CBS, NBC, FOX, and ABC affiliates — and over 730 including MyNetworkTV and Telemundo.
As with other recent additions, the local channels are DVR restricted meaning that you won’t be able to record shows to PlayStation Vue's Unlimited DVR. Instead, shows not watched live will need to be viewed on-demand with unskippable ads.
How The Streamable Measures Local Affiliates
We measure local affiliates by individual local channel, not by market. For instance, if WNBC is in Hartford and New York, it would count as single local affiliate.
You can see all locals available in each of the 210 markets or by using our Local Channel Finder Tool.
The company has the third most major network locals, but has been catching up to Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV — who are less than 100 locals ahead of the service. PlayStation Vue, they now have more than 250 additional major locals than Fubo.
Earlier this month, AT&T entered carriage disputes with Nexstar Media Group and CBS which saw over 100 local affiliates pulled from DIRECTV NOW — which has since been rebranded AT&T TV NOW.
