TCL Announces 2019 Roku TV Lineup With New Models Offering New Technologies

Demand for Roku TV continues to grow. Earlier this month, Roku announced that they now have 30.5 million active accounts. Much of Roku’s user growth is coming from licensing the Roku platform to Smart TV manufacturers. The company reported that nearly 1 in 3 Smart TVs sold in the first half of the year now use the Roku platform.

Now, one of the most popular Roku TV lineups is getting even better. Today, TCL announced pricing and U.S. availability of its new TCL Roku TV models within the it’s all-new 8-Series, as well as the popular 5 and 6-Series.

Pricing and Availability
  • 8-Series: Starting at $1999
    (Coming Fall 2019)
  • 6-Series: Starting under $600
    (Coming Summer 2019)
  • 5-Series: Starting under $300
    (Coming Summer 2019)

The company revealed that the 6 & 8-Series Roku TV models will be adopting Quantum Dot (QLED) color technology for wider and more vibrant performance. The QLED color technology in both 8-Series and 6-Series will deliver color without the limitations of lower color volume or shorter life found in other color technologies.

With the Contrast Control Zone technology, the highly demanded 6-Series will continue to offer high-end technology. To drive individual zones of LED lights behind the TV’s LCD panel, this lighting technology allows each zone of the TV to be brighter or darker depending on the image that’s on the screen. The 6-Series line will continue to offer great contrast performance with 100 Contrast Control Zones in the 55”, with the number of zones increasing in larger sizes.

A new contrast technology has been developed and is being deployed for the first time in the 2019 8-Series TCL Roku TV models. Quantum Contrast is technology powered byhigh-performance mini-LED back-lights. It offers more than 25,000 individual mini-LEDs powering the 75” 8-Series TV, compared to only a few hundred traditional LEDs found in standard big-screen TVs. The TCL 8-Series will be available this fall in a 65” and 75” 4K resolution models. 8K resolution models will be available in screen sizes of 75” and larger soon.

Also available is the TCL 5-Series which combines a premium FullView bezel-less design with the latest technologies to power an impactful 4K HDR experience. The 2019 5-series will be available in 43”, 50”, 55” and 65”.
